As residents of Blackburn Hamlet, one of the benefits of our neighbourhood is our proximity to the NCC Greenbelt. Whether you use it regularly as a place to walk, run, explore, or ski, or if it’s just for that feeling of getting out of the city on your drive or ride home, the Greenbelt greatly enhances our quality of life. The Blackburn Community Association has resolved to raise the profile of the Greenbelt to ensure that everyone is aware of and has access to this wonderful resource.
As mentioned in our first Greenbelt report, we have established a line of communication with NCC Staff and we are now expanding that network to include other Greenbelt users and contributors including the Orleans Nordic Ski Club. The BCA would like your input and suggestions on plans and activities that will help to conserve and enhance the attributes of the Greenbelt. Proposed activities include: development of a Community Trail Map and placement of trail markers, a Community Ski Day this winter, soliciting and supporting community group interest in trail maintenance and tree planting activities, and monitoring development plans. These ideas are just a start.
